Automatic Self Scrape Filter

The CMI UMCF Series Automatic Self-Scraping Filter is designed for high-viscosity, high-solid-content, and difficult-to-filter liquids that conventional bag or cartridge filters cannot handle.
This fully automatic system uses a pneumatically or electrically driven Teflon scraping disc to continuously clean the inner surface of the vertically slotted wedge-wire element, ensuring stable filtration without interruption.

Contaminants are concentrated at the bottom and discharged periodically within 1–2 seconds, minimizing product loss (typically <1%) and maintaining consistent flow and pressure during operation.

Automatic Self-Scraping Filter (UMCF Series)

High-Viscosity & High-Dirt Load Filtration | 25–400 μm | Continuous Operation

The CMI UMCF Series Automatic Self-Scraping Filter is designed for high-viscosity, high-solid-content, and difficult-to-filter liquids where conventional bag or cartridge filters are not suitable.

This fully automatic system uses a pneumatically or electrically driven PTFE (Teflon) scraping disc to continuously clean the inner surface of a vertically installed wedge-wire filter element, ensuring stable filtration without interrupting flow.

Contaminants are concentrated at the bottom and discharged periodically within 1–2 seconds, minimizing product loss (typically <1%) while maintaining consistent flow and pressure.

The UMCF system is widely used in adhesives, resins, coatings, edible oils, pulp & paper, steel mills, and chemical processing.

Working Principle

The system operates by moving a PTFE scraper disc vertically inside the wedge-wire filter element.

Scraping Disc Mechanism

  • Dual pneumatic actuator drives vertical movement
  • PTFE disc with wiping and scraping edges
  • Continuous contact with wedge-wire surface
  • Solids are removed and directed downward during operation
  • Accumulated solids are discharged via automatic drain valve

This design enables continuous filtration without stopping flow or opening the vessel.

Key Features

  • Continuous filtration without shutdown
  • No consumables – no filter bags or cartridges required
  • PTFE self-cleaning scraper with long service life
  • Suitable for high-viscosity liquids (up to 1,000,000 cps)
  • Fast discharge (1–2 seconds, product loss <1%)
  • Heavy-duty wedge-wire element, reusable and robust
  • Quick-opening vessel design for fast maintenance
  • Pneumatic or electric drive options
