A comprehensive guide to the most common questions about our industrial filtration products — including filter housings, cartridges, and filter bags. Whether you are choosing a new system or maintaining existing ones, the answers below can help you make the right decision.

1. Are custom filter sizes or designs available?

Absolutely. We provide OEM and customized housings, baskets, and cartridges for unique flow, temperature, or chemical environments. Custom logos and branding can also be added for private-label partners.

2. Do CMI filters comply with international standards?

Yes. CMI filters meet or exceed standards including ISO 9001, ASME VIII, CE, and 3A sanitary certification (for food and pharma use). We also offer documentation such as material traceability and pressure test reports.

3. Can I clean and reuse filter cartridges?

Yes — for sintered metal and stainless steel mesh filters, cleaning and reusing are possible. You can perform backflushing, ultrasonic cleaning, or chemical soaking depending on the contaminant type. Polypropylene and pleated paper filters, however, are disposable.

4. How often should filter elements be replaced?

Replacement frequency varies by contaminant load and operating conditions, but generally:

  • Liquid filters: every 3–6 months
  • Gas filters: every 6–12 months

Pressure drop or reduced flow rate are typical signs it’s time to replace.

5. Can CMI filters be used for both liquid and gas applications?

Yes. Our liquid filtration housings are optimized for water, oil, and chemical solutions, while our gas coalescers and separators are designed for air and natural gas systems. The key is choosing the proper housing type and media configuration.

6. How do I select the right filter cartridge for my system?

Filter cartridge selection depends on three factors: micron rating, media type, and end connection (e.g., Code 7, 222, 226). CMI engineers can recommend suitable cartridges based on your flow rate, viscosity, and filtration efficiency requirements.
